The office announced the MAC schedule today, Aug. 23

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Head Women's Basketball Coach Fred Castro and the Mid-American Conference announced the team's upcoming 2023-24 conference schedule today, Aug. 23. In addition to its 11-game non-conference slate, the Eastern Michigan women's basketball team will compete against conference foes in 18 contests this season, four of which will be played as the first part of a doubleheader with the EMU men's team.

"This will be another exciting and challenging conference schedule for our team this season," said Castro. "As always the MAC in women's basketball is one of the elite mid major conferences in the country.  We look forward to hosting quality opponents at home and the opportunity to travel to hostile environments like Buffalo and prove ourselves," he continued.  "The league has an influx of new coaches and players which should add a new dimension of excitement to this season.  I know our team is excited for the opportunities ahead."

Quick Notes

»  In the 2023 MAC tournament, the Eagles fought valiantly with a powerful first-quarter performance, but ultimately fell to Bowling Green, 70-36, in the first round inside Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, March 8.

Following the final non-conference match against Saginaw Valley State University, Dec. 29, the Eagles will begin their hunt for a spot in the MAC Championship tournament with a road trip to DeKalb, Ill. EMU is slated to face the Huskies, Jan. 3, before hosting the reigning MAC Champions, Toledo, Jan. 6, as the first part of a doubleheader with the men, who are scheduled to face Kent State.

The remainder of the month will see the team travel to Bowling Green, Jan. 10, for the first of five trips to Ohio before hosting back-to-back games including in-state rival, Central Michigan, Jan. 13, and then Miami, Jan. 17. Two consecutive road trips to Ohio follow as Eastern readies to take on the Bobcats of Ohio, Jan. 20, and Kent State, Jan. 24, before hosting both Ball State, Jan. 27, and Western Michigan, Jan. 31, to close out the month.

February will entail six conference games with an additional contest against an undetermined Sun Belt Conference (SBC) foe. The month will begin with a road trip to Buffalo, Feb. 3, followed by a three-game homestand against Akron, Feb. 7, the SBC foe, Feb. 10, and NIU, Feb. 17, and will end with two away games at Western Michigan and Miami, respectively, and a home meeting with Kent State, Feb. 28.

Two more road games are slated for the Eagles against Ball State and Toledo, before the regular season culminates in Ypsilanti when the Green and White battle Bowling Green Saturday, March 9.

The annual Mid-American Conference Tournament will begin March 13 with the crowning of the tournament champions taking place once again inside Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, this season on March 16, 2024.

EMU is in search of its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2012 season, the same year it last captured the confetti moment at the MAC Tournament.
