JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's track and field teams had 11 athletes compete at the NCAA East First Round meet hosted by the University of North Florida and the Eagles broke a pair of school records to close out the season.
Angel Gazaway (Cincinnati, Ohio-Princeton) shattered the school record in the first round of the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.05 to place 12th and advance to the quarterfinals. Lela V. Nelson held the record with a time of 13.34 in 2005. She ran a 13.44 in the quarterfinals to place 23rd to close out the weekend.
Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md.-Digital Harbor-Barton C.C.) broke the school record in the first round of 110m hurdles with a time of 13.65 to place 15th and earn a spot in the quarterfinals. The school record was held by Tiberia Patterson with a time of 13.67 set in 1994. Williamson ran a 13.91 and placed 17th in the quarterfinals in his final race of the season.
