Foeman Adds Six to 2023 Volleyball Roster

The six include three freshman and three sophomores; Samantha Basham announces return to EMU
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University Head Volleyball Coach Kevin Foeman announced the addition of six new Eagles to the 2023 roster today, May 19. Additionally, Samantha Basham (Granville, Ohio-Newark Catholic) has announced she will be returning to the team for her fifth season at EMU.
Joining previously announced junior setter Hannah Kivett (Chandler, Ind.-Castle-Florida Gulf Coast) and incoming freshman Ava Siefke (Cincinnati, Ohio-Saint Ursula Academy) in the 2023 season are freshmen Hannah Howard (Toledo, Ohio-St. Ursula Academy), Aubriegh Oswald (Lowell, Mich.-Lowell), and Surabhi Srinivason (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Jerome), along with sophomore transfers from Ashland University- Foeman's previous school- Elle McLoughlin (Zanesville,Ohio-Tri Valley-Ashland), Abigail Stanford (Zanesville,Ohio-Tri Valley-Ashland), and Kendal Bonney (Pioneer, Ohio-North Central-Ashland).
"There is a lot of anticipation around this group of athletes," sayid Foeman. "They are excited to work hard and make an immediate impact, and I believe they all uniquely possess character traits and a work ethic needed to make our program strong. We have phenomenal leaders on this team that will help mold and mentor this well rounded group. I am eager to get in the gym and get to work!".
The eight newcomers along with Basham's comeback will bring the teams roster total to 18 with nine returners from the 2022-23 roster. The nine returning include graduate student Callie Minshew (Brandon, Miss.-Brandon-Mississippi State), seniors Bella Hommes (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Northern), and Olivia Szylar (Itasca, Ill.-Lake Park), juniors Mackenzie Gross (Grand Haven, Mich.-Grand Haven), MeKayla Koger (Mansfield, Texas-Lake Ridge-Sam Houston State), and Emily Surin (Plainfield, Ill. -Joilet Catholic-Lamar), and sophomores Sabrina Gremm (North Royalton, Ohio-Gilmour Academy), Jessica Wilson (Kirtland, Ohio-Lake Catholic), and Emma McMahon (Monroeville, Ind.-Bellmont).
