RALEIGH, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the Raleigh Relays this weekend at North Carolina State University, Thursday-Saturday, March 23-25. 

The three-day events gets underway Thursday morning at 9:45. Thursday's action includes six field events and five track events. Friday's action begins at 9:45, with 20 total events across both track and field set to be scored. The 2023 installment of the Raleigh Relays will conclude Saturday with 14 final events, including 10 on the track.

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles men's and women's teams posted nine top five performances at the UCF Black and Gold Invite in Orlando, March 17-18.

Junior Yvan Lopes Ribeiro (Nice, France-Lycée Honoré d'Estiennes d'Orves-American International) led the way winning both the triple jump (15.66 meters) and the long jump (7.77 meters) with career best performances. He also took fourth in the 110 hurdles with a personal best time of 14.07. For his efforts, he was named the Mid-American Conference Male Athlete of the Week Wednesday, March 22.

The Eagles 400 meter relay team of senior Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md.-Digital Harbor-Barton C.C.), junior Kaleb Simpson (Bexley, Ohio-St. Charles Preparatory), senior Kyle Martin (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ann Arbor Huron), and graduate student Richie Sadler (Greenville, S.C.-Greer-Coastal Carolina) placed second in 40.734.

Williamson finished third in the 100 hurdles in 14.05, while Simpson took fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.48.

On the women's side, senior Angel Gazaway (Cincinnati, Ohio-Princeton) placed third in the 100 hurdles (13.82) and finished fifth in the 400 hurdles with a personal best time of 1:01.25 while junior Miranda Cadwell (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield South) placed fifth in the hammer with a throw of 53.69 meters. Gazaway joined Lopes Ribeiro as a MAC Athlete of the Week after her performance.
