Evans and Ritzenthaler set to join Eagles

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Head Gymnastics Coach Katie Minasola announced the addition of two new student-athletes in Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga./Paul Duke Stem), and Elise Ritzenthaler (Quinlan, Texas/Acellus Academy), who are set to join the Eagles for the 2025 season.

"
I am so excited to add Elise and Sanai to our Eagle family," said Minasola. "With the addition of these two, our line-ups will grow in both depth and value. I am really looking forward to what's to come for our program with the addition of Elise and Sanai. Together, they add value to help revive this program."

Evans begins her EMU career by way of Norcross, Ga., where she competed as an all-around gymnast for BIO Gymnastics, training under Brad McLaren. Averaging a score of 9.5 in her senior season, Evans has been top 100 in 2021, a state champion in 2022, and was top three in the region and a national qualifier in 2023, all on bars, while she placed 2nd in the 2022 state championship on vault.

Ritzenthaler arrives in Ypsilanti after competing at Metroplex Gymnastics, training in Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor under Coaches Anna Pawlak, Brian Gemberling, Nicolette McElroy, and Kambri Hoffman. A native of Quinlan, Texas, Ritzenthaler was a 2021 Western qualifier, a 2023 National qualifier, and a 2023 Regional FX Champion.
