Soccer Scores Twice in Final Seven Minutes to Earn Point Against Buffalo

Lukowski, Sipsock net second-half goals 3:18 apart against MAC preseason favorite
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team rallied to score twice in the final 6:54 to earn one vital point in a 3-3 result Sunday, Oct. 1, against the Mid-American Conference preseason favorite University at Buffalo as the match at Scicluna Field featured six second-half goals.
Trailing 3-1 through 83 minutes, junior Meagan Lukowski (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western) scored in the 84th-minute to bring the Eagles within one goal before freshman Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) converted a penalty kick to tie the match with 3:36 left to play.
How It Happened
After the first half featured 13 combined shots and no goals, the Eagles and Bulls combined for six second-half goals.
Buffalo netted the match's first goal in the 55th-minute, but freshman Cameryn Susey (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) scored in the 59th-minute on an assist from Sipsock to level the match at 1-1.
Ten minutes later, the Bulls retook the lead before extending their advantage to 3-1 in the 74th-minute.
Eastern drew within one in the 84th-minute as junior Sam Lenaghan (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) sent a deep ball into the box that was corralled by Lukowski, whose right-footed shot beat the UB keeper and slipped inside the right post.
EMU was able to get the equalizer in the 87th-minute after drawing a Bulls foul inside the box, yielding Sipsock a penalty kick that concluded the match's scoring.
