Fifteen Eagles Named CRCA Scholar-Athletes

1,155 Division I female student-athletes were recognized for their success in the classroom and on the water
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) -- Fifteen members of the Eastern Michigan University rowing team were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar Athletes, the association announced last weekend, June 25.
To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher, be in their sophomore year-or-later, and have rowed in one of their institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boats for 75 percent of the spring races or the regional conference event.
EMU's honorees for the 2022 season were: sophomores Emma Boersen (West Olive, Mich.-Grand Haven), Laura Borchers (Troy, Ohio-Troy), Olivia Bray (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Homeschool), Reagan Fazekas (Hillsdale, Mich.-Romeo), Emily Gandy (Canadian Lakes, Mich.-Chippewa Hills), Alexis Kettler (Trenton, Mich.-Trenton), and Jessica LaRoy (Monroe, Mich.-Monroe), juniors Caitlin Rodanhisler (Hopkins, Mich.-Hopkins), Ariel Sutton (Indianapolis, Ind.-Scecina Memorial), and Lily Wilhelm (Noblesville, Ind.-Noblesville (Butler)), and seniors Lauren Ahern (Farmington Hills, Mich.-Walled Lake Western) and Brynne Harder (Fenwick, Mich.-Saranac).
The Eagles paced all members of the Colonial Athletic Association with its 15 awardees, followed by Villanova with 14. Delaware and Drexel both saw 12 rowers earn the distinction, Northeastern and UC San Diego both had 10, and UConn had five recipients.
Following their program-record point total (26) at the 2022 CAA Championships, including tying their best finish in team history (third), the Eagles will continue training for the fall season.
