Almighty Williamson finished 21st in the 110m hurdles quarterfinals
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field program concluded its time at the NCAA East Preliminary Round today, May 27, at the Roger C. Haugh Complex.
"Our group came prepared to compete and the effort was there but unfortunately, we weren't able to reach our goal of getting some qualifiers to Eugene," said Director/Head Coach Sue Parks. "We're disappointed but I know that the athletes who are returning will use this as motivation for next year. We are so proud of the athletes who finished their careers this weekend. They've been a huge part of our success and they will be greatly missed. Overall, it's been a strong year for us but we're hungry for more and we'll be working hard to get ready for next year."
How It Happened
In the quarterfinals of the 110m hurdles, sophomore Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md.-Digital Harbor (Barton C.C.)) finished 21st overall with a time of 14.12 to wrap up his impressive first season at Eastern Michigan.
Elsewhere on the track, junior Baldvin Magnusson (Akureyri, Iceland-Hull University) finished 32nd in the 5000m race with a time of 14:03.97. Senior Solomon Costa (Gahanna, Ohio-Gahanna Lincoln) battled the rain in the steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 9:08.14 for 33rd in his first-ever regional appearance.
Senior Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Windhoek, Namibia-Fishburne Military (Va.) (Bethany College)) and junior Richie Sadler (Greenview, S.C.-Greer (Coastal Carolina)) recorded triple jump marks of 15.18m (33rd) and 14.77m (42nd), respectively.
