HOLLAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Battling tough scoring conditions, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team opened play at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by the University of Toledo at Stone Oak Country Club Friday, April 22. The Eagles wrapped up the first round in eighth place after registering an opening round 330 on the par 72, 6,158-yard course.
No. 43 Kent State University leads the pack after the first round of play after registering a first-round total of 296 (+8). Northern Illinois University is in second with a 305 followed by Toledo (315), the University of Akron (316), and Central Michigan University (317). Bowling Green State University (319), Ball State University (319), EMU (330), Western Michigan University (332), and Ohio University (339) rounded out the leaderboard.
Overall, EMU tallied just five birdies and 37 pars on the afternoon.
How It Happened
Sophomore Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) led the way for the Green and White with a day one score of 79. Watson is tied for 14th, as NIU's Jasmine Ly sits atop the leaderboard with a three-under 69.
Sophomore Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin) turned in an 82 to sit in 29th, while freshman Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario-Tommy Douglas Secondary School) is tied for 37th with an 84. Freshman Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota) and junior Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) rounded out the lineup with an 85 and 86, respectively.

Eastern Michigan returns to the course Saturday, April 23, for second round action. EMU will be paired with Ball State with tee times scheduled to begin at 9:50 a.m.
