Rowing Set For Competition on the Susquehanna River

Bucknell will host EMU, UConn, and Villanova, April 16

SHAMOKIN DAM, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team is back on the road for a regatta on the Susquehanna River, April 16. Bucknell University is set to host EMU, the University of Connecticut, and Villanova University. The first race is set to begin at 8 a.m.
Last week, the Eagles battled Boston College and Boston University on the Charles River, April 9. There, Eastern's First Varsity Eight crew clocked in at 6:56.6 for second, while the Second Varsity Eight finished third in 7:21.3 in its race.
The Green and White were scheduled to race against the Bison last spring, but the competition was canceled due to high-water conditions. However in 2019, EMU's 1V8+ and Novice 8+ boats both recorded first-place finishes against Bucknell at the Cooper Invitational, April 7.
Bucknell is coming off a weekend where it placed second in the 1V4+ (7:39.2) and 1V8+ (6:48.0) at the Saratoga Invitational, April 9, against Cornell, Princeton, and Syracuse. UConn's1V8 boat (7:03.07) and 2V8 boat (7:24.17) finished runner-up in its respective against Boston College and Holy Cross on Lake Quinsigamond, April 10. Lastly, Villanova recently wrapped up two days of racing at the Knect Cup on the Cooper River. In Pennsauken N.J., the Wildcats' First Varsity Eight crew finished fifth in its race with a time of 6:43.47.
Following the trip out east, the Eagles will return to host the University of Dayton on Ford Lake, May 1. The regatta will serve as Eastern Michigan's final race before the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, May 15.
