Men's Golf Ready for Rutherford Intercollegiate

Eagles to compete in the 45th annual installment of the tournament

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team heads east to compete in the Rutherford Intercollegiate, April 16-17. The 54-hole event, hosted by Penn State University, will take place on the par-71, 7,202-yard PSU Blue Course.
The field consists of 14 teams, as the Eagles take on competitors from Bowling Green, Connecticut, Dayton, George Mason, Georgetown, Loyola (Md.), Maryland, Michigan State, Oakland, Penn State, Richmond, Saint Mary's, and Seton Hall. West Virginia will also send some individual competitors to the event.
Eastern Michigan most recently competed in the tournament in 2019, finishing as the runner-up with a team score of 857 (283-283-291). Individually, the squad had four players finish inside the top-15 spots for the first time since the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championships. Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) had a two-day mark of 213 (69-71-73) to finish in a tie for ninth.
Saturday will feature the first two rounds of the tournament, with the first round set to tee off at 7:30 a.m. The final round will be played Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m.
The Penn State Blue Course is a par-71 course and covers 7,202 yards. The renovated Blue Course hosted its first major amateur event in 2009, the Big Ten Conference Men's Golf Championship. With the updates and improvements made in 2007, the Blue Course now proudly sits with some of the top courses in the Big Ten. The Blue Course has hosted numerous events conducted by the USGA, FCWT, AJGA, IJGT, PGA Junior Series and the West Penn Golf Association.
