The Eagles are back in action at home, April 10, against Northern Illinois
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team suffered a tough 6-1 loss at home to the University at Buffalo today, April 10. The Eagles now sit at .500 on the season with an overall record of 14-14, but fall to 2-4 in Mid-American Conference action.
"Buffalo is always very aggressive and an incredibly tough team," said Head Coach Jayson Wiseman. "To take them on down two starters was a tall task that was just a bit too much for us today. Despite that, we fought hard and were able to take some positives out of today."
How It Happened
Eastern kicked off the match down 1-0, after failing to secure the doubles point. Despite the setback, redshirt seniors Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colegio CEBES (Wright State)) and Grace Whitney (Imlay City, Mich.-Imlay City (Wright State)) did earn a win at No. 2, 6-2, marking their second consecutive doubles win. Moving to singles, redshirt junior Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire-sur-l'Adour, France-Saint Dominique Pau) extended her win streak to eight straight with another straight-set win at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1.
