BLUFFTON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team notched rounds of 294 and 295 in its first two rounds at Colleton River Collegiate Monday, March 7, as the Eagles sit in 10th-place with one round left to go. Senior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) led the team with a one-over 175 (71-74) at the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Colleton River Club.
In a field that features four top-45 teams, Georgia State sits on top the leaderboard with a 16-under 560 (278-282). Kansas State is in second (566) followed by No. 28 Michigan State (569), No. 26 USF (569), and No. 36 Ohio State (572).
How It Happened
After posting five birdies in his opening round, Celone was only able to card a birdie on hole No. 14 in during the finale. South Florida's Albin Bergstrom leads the pack at 10-unde 134 (66-68).
Sophomore Max Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) is just one shot shy of Celone with a 146 (71-75) in 38th, while classmate Cam Kellett (London, Ontario-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Nevada) added a 147 (76-71).
Senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) turned in scores of 76 and 75 for a 151 in 50th. Fellow senior Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) rounded out the day with a 157 (71-76) in a tie for 70th.
