EMU Rowing Set for Busy Weekend on Ford Lake

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing program is ready to host its first regattas of the spring season on Ford Lake as the Eagles will take on Michigan State University, April 2, and Duquesne University, April 3. Both Saturday and Sunday's contests are scheduled for 10 a.m.
The Eagles are coming off a successful training trip at No. 15 Alabama where they battled the Crimson Tide on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Eastern's 2V8+ boat highlighted the event, finishing second in the first 2000-meter race of the day, clocking in at 8:01.54, less than four seconds behind Alabama's 3v8+ (7:57.46).
EMU and MSU met last fall at the Head of the Grand Regatta in East Lansing, Mich., Oct. 16. On the Grand River, the Green and White's 1V8+ team recorded a time of 12:07.7 for second place behind the Spartan's 1V8+ boat. Recently, Michigan State competed last weekend at the Ivy/Big Ten Double Dual, March 26, and Doc Hosea Invitational, March 27.
Eastern battled Duquesne in Ypsilanti last spring on Ford Lake, where the 1V8+ (7:20.31), 2V8+ (7:43.03), and IV4+ A (8:33.88) teams all won their respective races, April 10.
The Dukes took on Dayton University in its spring opener on Saturday, March 26. Duquesne's 1V4+ boat won its race at the Indianapolis Rowing Center with a time of 8:06.92.
