Eastern Michigan Tennis Prepped for Action-Packed Weekend

The Eagles will play Ball State and Wayne State, April 1, before taking on Miami and Dayton, April 3

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team has prepared for an action-packed weekend. EMU starts at home Friday, April 1, playing Ball State University at 1 p.m., followed by Wayne State University at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, the Eagles will hit the road Sunday, April 3, to compete at Miami University at 1 p.m., and then at the University of Dayton at 7 p.m.

Eastern (11-11, 1-2 MAC) is coming off a weekend of competition where it went 2-1 and earned its first conference win of the season. EMU lost a close match, 4-3, to Western Michigan University, March 25. The Eagles followed up with back-to-back wins, March 7, besting Bowling Green State University, 4-3, before topping Lourdes, 4-0. 

Freshmen Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic-Gymazium Jana Blahoslava) and Prerna Vichare (Mumbai, India-College of Commerce and Economics) earned their 15th doubles win of the spring season against BGSU, winning 6-3. Additionally, Vichare bested both of her Mid-American Conference opponents in singles play, winning 6-3, 6-3, against the Broncos, and 6-4, 6-4, against the Falcons. The freshman won both matches at the No. 2 spot. Moreover, redshirt senior Vasavi Ganesan (Chennai, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)) and redshirt sophomore Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire-sur-l'Adour, France-Saint Dominique Pau) have both won their last three matches. 

Ball State (12-2, 3-0 MAC) is on an eight-match win streak, most recently capped off with a 6-1 defeat of Toledo, March 27. Wayne State (8-5, 3-0 GLIAC) holds a winning streak of its own, besting its last three opponents. Additionally, the Warriors have not lost a point in that stretch, winning 7-0, most recently over Davenport, March 26.

Also starting its conference slate off strong, Miami (9-8, 3-0 MAC) remains undefeated in the MAC having taken down Western Michigan 5-2, March 27. Furthermore, Dayton (9-8, 2-2 A10) recently defeated St. Bonaventure (March 26), 4-3, followed by Duquesne (March 27), 5-2.
