EMU Tennis Set For Weekend Matches Versus Broncos and Falcons

The Eagles will play at Western Michigan, March 25, and at Bowling Green, March 27
KALAMAZOO, Mich. & BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team is set for two Mid-American Conference matchups this weekend at Western Michigan University Friday, March 25, and at Bowling Green State University Sunday, March 27. Both matches are scheduled for 1 p.m.
Eastern (9-10, 0-1 MAC), is coming off its first conference contest, a 5-2 home loss to Toledo, March 20. In the match, the freshman duo of Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic-Gymnazium Jana Blahoslava) and Prerna Vichare (Mumbai, India-College of Commerce and Economics) continued to shine, earning EMU's sole doubles win, a 6-3 victory at No. 2. The pair moved to 14-3 this spring season. Securing the two points for the Eagles in the match were redshirt sophomore Isabelle Popma (Straphorst, Netherlands-Center for Sports and Education) and redshirt senior Vasavi Ganesan (Chennai, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)). Popma earned the win at No. 4, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (5), while Ganesan bested her opponent in the No. 6 spot, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Meanwhile, Western Michigan (8-9, 0-1 MAC) has also started off league action 0-1, having fallen to Ball State 5-2, March 20. BSU was tied for first place in preseason voting in the 2022 MAC coaches poll. The Broncos were on a four-match win streak before losing to the Cardinals, their longest stretch of the spring season without a loss.
Bowling Green (4-8, 1-0 MAC) started MAC play with a win 4-3 win over Northern Illinois, March 20. Prior to the victory over the Huskies, the Falcons had lost five of their last six matches.
