EMU Tennis Set for First MAC Test

The Eagles will host Toledo before traveling to Tiffin, March 20
YPSILANTI, Mich. & TIFFIN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team opens up Mid-American Conference play Sunday, March 20, as it hosts the University of Toledo. Start time inside the Chippewa Club is scheduled for 1 p.m. Following the match, the Eagles will head to Tiffin University for a 6:30 p.m. contest the same day.
Eastern (9-9) is coming off a two-week break after playing in four matches over a three-day stretch in Orlando, Fla. On March 3, the Green and White were defeated by the University of Central Florida, 6-1, before besting the University of Charleston, 6-1. Later in the week, EMU fell to Oakland University, 5-2, and wrapped up its trip with a 4-3 win over St. Petersburg, March 5.
The freshman doubles pairing of Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic-Gymnazium Jana Blahoslava) and Prerna Vichare (Mumbai, India-College of Commerce and Economics) highlighted the trip, going 2-1 in the Sunshine State. The duo started against UCF, falling 6-4, at No. 2. Two days later, the freshmen bested Oakland, 6-2, at No. 3. Later that afternoon, Brichackova and Vichare topped St. Petersburg College, 6-0, in the No. 2 spot. The pair now boasts a 13-3 record this spring season.
Toledo comes into Sunday's contest with a 10-3 ledger and has won three of its last four matches. Most recently, the Rockets fell on the road to California State Fullerton, 5-2, March 8. Additionally, UT tied with Ball State for first in the Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Coaches Poll with 28 points.
Tiffin currently sits at 12-3 and will face the University of Findlay to open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. Last time out, the Dragons topped Division III opponent Oberlin College, 6-1, March 12.
Next week, Eastern will head west on I-94 for a 1 p.m. match with Western Michigan University Friday, March 25. On Sunday, the Eagles are scheduled to travel to the Buckeye State for contests at Bowling Green State University (1 p.m.) and Lourdes University (6:30 p.m.).
