Swim & Dive Places Fifth at MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team closed out the Mid-American Conference Championships with a fifth-place showing Saturday, Feb. 26.
The Eagles finished with 354 points, while the University at Akron took home the MAC Championship (896.5).
How It Happened
EMU finished with five medals (3 silver, 2 bronze) on the weekend, with senior Bethany Berger (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) earning second place finishes in both the 1-meter dive (315.30) and the 3-meter dive (318.75). Fellow senior Riley Hofmann (Ada, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) tallied second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.11) and third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:16.76).
Diver Camryn Hughes (London, Ontario-Sir Frederick Banting Secondary) earned a third-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 290.65.
Hofmann was selected as a First Team All-MAC member. Berger's performance earned the diver Second Team All-MAC honors. It is Berger's second time being selected to an All-MAC Team and her first time tabbed to the Second Team (2020-21 First Team All-MAC selection).
