Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Up Next For EMU

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team is in South Carolina for the 16th Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, Feb. 21-22. The two-day event hosted by Francis Marion University is being played on the Arnold Palmer Signature Course at Wexford Plantation in Hilton Head. The course will play at par 72 and 6,913 yards.
The first round is set to begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. on Monday morning, with the second round to follow in the afternoon. The third and final round will commence with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
Playing in the tournament will be Augusta, Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, East Carolina, EMU, Dayton, Francis Marion, Furman, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, Ohio, Presbyterian, Radford, South Carolina–Aiken, Temple, Western Carolina, and Winthrop.
Head Coach Bruce Cunningham will run out a lineup of senior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic), senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary), sophomore MJ Smith (Rockford, Ill.-Winnebago), senior Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park), and sophomore Max Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland).
EMU is competing in the event for the first time since the 2006-07 campaign, when the squad finished fifth with a team score of 914 (311-307-296). Chattanooga claimed the tournament title carding with an 897 (300-303-294).
Graham Hill fired a seven-over-par 223 (78-77-68) to finish in a tie for sixth-place at the event, which was in just its second year. Marquette's Mike Van Sickle took home medalist honors with a three-under 213 (73-69-71).
