YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team lost a hard fought match to Cleveland State University, 4-3, Thursday, Feb. 10 inside the Chippewa Club. The Eagles move to 1-3 overall in the spring season.

"This was a really well played match on both sides," said Head Coach Jayson Wiseman. "Unfortunately, we just couldn't hold the momentum in two of the three 3-set matches. Hopefully we can play with this much focus and energy for the remaining matches this week."

How It Happened
Eastern Michigan started the match by clinching the double point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Redshirt senior's Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colegio CEBES (Wright State)) and Grace Whitney (Imlay City, Mich.-Imlay City (Wright State)) pulled out a 6-4 victory at No. 2, while freshmen Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic-Gymnazium Jana Blahoslava) and Prerna Vichare (Mumbai, India-Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics) showed dominance with their 6-1 win at No. 3.

In singles action, Brichakova won again, this time from the No. 4 slot, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. The freshmen remains unbeaten in spring action with a 4-0 overall record. Redshirt senior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)) also came out on top, finishing 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 6 slot.
