The Eagles will play in six matches in four days

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team has a long week ahead, preparing for six matches, over four days, in five different cities. Eastern starts at home Thursday, Feb. 10, welcoming Cleveland State University at 12:30 p.m. Then the Eagles will travel to Chicago, Ill. Friday, Feb. 11 for a doubleheader against UIC and the University of Chicago, at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT, respectively. On Saturday, Feb. 12, EMU will head to the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin, for a 3 p.m. CT contest against the Panthers. The Green and White close out the long trip Sunday, Feb. 13, at Valparaiso University, 10 a.m. CT, and then Holy Cross College (Ind.), beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Eastern enters the week 1-2 overall, having recently bested Lawrence Tech University, 7-0, Feb. 4. Freshman Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic-Gymnazium Jana Blahoslava) has started the season strong for the Eagles having not dropped a singles match yet. The freshman is 3-0, having played in both the No. 3, and No. 4 spot. In doubles action, the freshman pairing of Brichackova and Prerna Vichare (Mumbai, India-Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics) leads the squad with a 2-1 record to start the spring season. The duo has played in both the No. 1 and No. 3 slots.

Cleveland State comes to Ypsilanti with a 4-1 overall record, besting Duquesne in its last outing, Feb. 6, 5-2. The Vikings secured one of their wins over Mid-American Conference member Western Michigan, Jan. 29, 5-2.

UIC defeated Bradley, 6-1, Feb. 6, advancing to 2-1 on the season. The Flames' sole loss of the year came at the hands of Toledo, Jan. 30, 5-2. Meanwhile, the University of Chicago has yet to place a match this spring season, as the recently scheduled match with Eastern will serve as its opener.

The Milwaukee Panthers are 2-2 early in the year, falling to Butler 6-1, Feb. 5, before bouncing back to defeat Eastern Illinois, 4-3, Feb. 6.

Moving to Indiana, Valparaiso holds a 4-1 record this season but has not played since Jan. 29, due to the postponement of a match with Western Michigan. The Crusaders will play before Eastern comes to town, with a contest against Purdue Northwest scheduled for Feb. 12. Holy Cross (Ind.) is 3-8 overall this year, with a 4-3 win over Grace College, Feb. 5.
