YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles,com) - The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive program continues its season-opening road trip with a short drive to Ann Arbor, Mich. to battle the University of Michigan and Ohio University in a tri-meet. The first event is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside Canham Natatorium.
LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles defeated Mid-American Conference foe the University of Toledo 165-134, Oct. 28, inside the Student Recreation Center Pool. The victory was EMU's fifth-straight season-opening dual meet victory since the 2017-18 season. Eastern won 10 events on its way to its season-opening victory Friday night. Senior swimmer Carlin Hudson (Chattanooga, Tenn.- Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences) led the way for the Eagles, notching three first-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (51.39), 200-yard freestyle (1:51.45), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.14), respectively.
On the diving board, the duo of Camryn Hughes (London, Ontario-Sir Banting Frederick Secondary) and Keira Veltigian (Oxford, Mich.-Oxford) swept the diving events with Hughes taking first in the 1-meter (257.55) and Veltigian taking the top spot in the 3-meter (250.88).
SCOUTING MICHIGAN: The Wolverines began the season finishing second out of six teams (311 points) at the Southern Methodist University's SMU Classic, Oct. 8. Most recently, UM defeated Oakland University, 160-97. Michigan won 12 out of the 15 events against the Golden Grizzlies and in the three events that the Wolverines did not win, they finished second.
SCOUTING OHIO: The Bobcats have started 2-1 this season, falling to Virginia Tech, Oct. 1, and defeated George Washington University on the same day. Ohio placed first (1,805 points) in the university's invitational, Oct. 14-15, and defeated Miami University, Oct. 29, in the team's most recent dual meet.
ON THE HORIZON: EMU will compete in the team's first home meet when the Eagles host Oakland, Nov. 12, inside the swimming pool inside Saline High School. The first event is slated for 1 p.m.
