The London, Ontario native collected the MAC weekly honor for the first time
CLEVELAND, Ohio. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Nevada) was named the Mid-American Conference co-Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career today, Oct. 20. The London, Ontario, native shared the honor with the University of Toledo's Barend Botha.
With blustery, windy, and wet conditions that kept the temperatures in the mid-to-low 40s throughout the two-day event, Kellett finished in third with a 217 (73-72-72) on the par-71, 7,004-yard NCR Country Club setup, Oct. 18. It marked the second top-five showing of the fall for Kellett, who edged out two players ranked in the GolfStat top-10. Illinois' Tommy Kuhl, slotted 10th nationally, tied for 10th with a 218, while the Fighting Illini's Adrien Dumont de Chassart, ranked fourth, tied for 14th at 222.
For Kellett, the two-day tally was his second-best cumulative score of the year, previously finishing third at the Joe Feaganes Invitational, Sept. 12-13, with a 209 (65-72-72).
The Eagles take a four-month break between tournaments, next taking to the course in Dade City, Fla., Feb. 6-7, 2023, at the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Event hosted by Ball State University.
