WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team placed 11th out of 15 teams in a strong field at the Purdue Fall Invitational, Oct. 11, with a team score of 913 (304-304-305). The highlight of the trip was freshman Cooper Eberle (Richmond Ky.-Madison Central), who improved his standing on day two to finish tied for 33rd with a 225 (74-78-73).
No. 7-ranked Tennessee took home first place honors, followed by LSU in second place and the host Boilermakers in third. Volunteer Bryce Lewis picked up the win in the players' leaderboard, with Purdue's Herman Wibe Sekne and Nebraska's Harry Crockett rounding out the top three.
How It Happened
It was Eberle's second career start for EMU, previously taking 56th at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, Sept. 12-13, with a 222 (74-72-76). Senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Nevada) notched a 226 (80-72-74) in 38th, while junior Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) added a 230 (77-76-77) for 48th place. Freshmen Ryan Somerville (Aurora, Ontario-Aurora) and Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta-HJ Cody) rounded out the scoring with a 237 (78-78-81) and a 239 (75-79-85), respectively.
Playing as an individual at Ackerman-Allen GC across the street, freshman Victor Caliguri (Cincinnati, Ohio-Elder) capped his day in 31st, ending the individual part of the Invitational at 227 (72-76-79). Freshman Nathaniel Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario-Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute) tied for 32nd with a 229 (76-79-74) in his first collegiate action, and Sam Yono II (West Bloomfield, Mich.-Brother Rice) carded a 235 (82-78-75) in 38th.

The Eagles are back in action next week to participate in the Flyer Invitational, taking place on Monday, Oct. 17, and Tuesday, Oct. 18. Playing at NCR Country Club, that event will wrap up the fall season for Eastern Michigan.
