EMU Gymnastics Announces 2023 Schedule

Eagles to host four home contests in upcoming season

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University gymnastics Head Coach Katie Minasola announced the program's 2023 schedule today, Oct. 10. The Eagles will host four home competitions this upcoming season, including a quad meet, March 3. 

"We are very excited for this year's competition schedule," remarked Minasola. "We have several Power Five schools that we are going up against which will provide our athletes with a well rounded experience." 

Before the official 2023 campaign begins, the Eagles will compete in a quad-style scrimmage at the University of Michigan, Dec. 10, at 4 p.m. Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University will also compete at the meet in Ann Arbor, Mich. 

In the new year, EMU will start its 46th season on the road, competing in a triangular meet at Arizona State University, Friday, Jan. 13, in Tempe, Ariz. The University of California at Davis will also compete against the Eagles and the hosting Sun Devils. Start time is slated for 9 p.m. EST (7 p.m. MST). The Green and White will remain away for their next contest at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa Friday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. CT). 

Eastern Michigan's home opener inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center Sunday, Jan. 22, will also be the team's first Mid-American Conference meet of the season against Ball State University at 1 p.m.

The Eagles will see five straight away meets beginning with a quad with Iowa State and Towson University at West Virginia University, Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. The following weekend, the team will return to the Mitten State for its second conference meet of the season at Central Michigan Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.

Next, the program will head south to take on the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. In the following two weeks, the Eagles will see two more MAC match-ups on the road, Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. against Western Michigan and Friday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT) against Northern Illinois University, before returning to Ypsilanti. 

Eastern Michigan will host three consecutive home meets to conclude the regular season. On Sunday, Feb. 26, the Green and White will duel Kent State University at 1 p.m. The next weekend, EMU will compete against Long Island University, Michigan State University and one more opponent who is still to be determined, Friday, March 3, at 6 p.m. 

A dual meet against Bowling Green University will be the Eagles final meet of the season, Sunday, March 12 at 2 p.m. The competition, held inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center, will be Senior Day for the Green and White. 

Finally, the 2023 MAC Championships will be held at Kent State in Kent, Ohio, Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m. If the Eagles qualify, the team could compete at NCAA Regionals, April 1, at one of six possible locations to be announced at a later date.

This season's NCAA Championships will be held April 14-15 in Fort Worth, Texas.
