Volleyball Falls in Three-Set Sweep to Bradley

EMU returns to action tomorrow, Sept. 5, when it travels to Oakland
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) --The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team lost to the Bradley University Braves in straight sets (20-25, 19-25, 22-25) Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Convocation Center.
The non-conference loss dropped Eastern Michigan to 2-2 on the season.
The Eagles' attack was paced by freshman Annie Lockett (Mason, Ohio-Mason), who finished with 11 kills on the day, and by sophomore Samantha Basham (Granville, Ohio-Newark Catholic), who had 10. EMU got 17 digs from sophomore Kamryn Stilwell (Parma, Ohio-Padua Franciscan) to lead them defensively.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles found themselves in an early hole, losing the first set 25-20. Bradley grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that was knotted up six times before the Braves took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Eastern Michigan lost set two, 25-19. Although EMU put together an impressive 14-8 run to pull the score within four, 24-19, they were unable to complete the comeback.
SET 3 | Eastern Michigan could not win set three and was swept by Bradley. The Eagles came up short by the score of 25-22. Bradley grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was knotted up two times before the Braves took over the lead.
Game Notes
» Freshman Madeline Timmerman (Crystal Lake, Ill.-Central) had a team-high two aces in the loss.
» Lockett had a team-high 11 kills for Eastern Michigan.
» Eastern Michigan got a match-high 17 digs from Stilwell.
» Eastern Michigan attackers were helped by a match-high 34 assists from sophomore Jayden Otto (Crystal Lake, Ill.-Prairie Ridge).
