MADISON, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University football team fell 34-7 to No. 17/18 Wisconsin on the road Saturday night, Sept. 11, at Camp Randall Stadium.
The Badgers improved to 1-1 on the season while the Eagles dropped to 1-1.
How It Happened
Junior Preston Hutchinson (Mason, Ohio-Mason) led all Eagles rushers with 12 yards in the contest, picking up four yards per carry. Sophomore Samson Evans (Crystal Lake, Ill.-Prairie Ridge (Iowa)) also added four yards on the ground.
The most prolific target for Eastern Michigan quarterbacks was freshman wide out Zach Westmoreland (Joplin, Mo.-Joplin (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M), who caught two passes for 35 yards.
Freshman David Carter Jr. (Ecorse, Mich.-River Rouge) led the Eastern Michigan defensive effort, totaling one interception. Senior Woo Scott Sr. (Little Rock, Ark.-J.A. Fair (Independent)) added three tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss, and one sack. Senior Terry Myrick (Austell, Ga.-Woodward Academy) and sophomore Robert Daniel Jr. (Oak Park, Mich.-Oak Park) tied as the team's best tacklers, finishing with seven apiece.
Both Eastern Michigan and Wisconsin forced one turnover in Saturday's contest, with Eastern Michigan turning that takeaway into seven points.
Defensively, Eastern Michigan played well against the Wisconsin passing attack, holding the Badgers to 166 yards through the air.

» Senior Jake Julien (Barrie, Ontario-North Collegiate) punted eight times for the Eagles with an average of 51.4 yards per punt (season-high), while pinning the Badgers inside their own 20 two times.
» Eastern Michigan forced one red zone turnover in the contest.
Historical Notes
» Carter Jr.'s 98-yard interception return for a touchdown was the second-longest in school history. Three have been returned for 100 yards, most recently in 1972 season by George Duranko.
» Five Eagles, including co-stop-leader, Daniel Jr., made their first-career start against Wisconsin.
» EMU has now won or tied nine of its last 16 quarters played against Big Ten Conference teams (dating back to Rutgers in 2017).
»EMU has now forced at least one turnover in each of its last four games against Big Ten teams. It has won the turnover battle in two of the four games, and tied in two.
