Cayden Spencer-Thompson will join the Eagles after stint at Louisville
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University track & field program and Director/Head Coach Sue Parks landed another talented transfer to the 2021-22 roster today, Aug. 9, with the signing of jumper Cayden Spencer-Thompson (Lincoln, Maine-Mattanawcook Academy (Louisville)).
"We're excited to add Cayden to our roster," said Parks. "He is an impressive athlete who is capable of contributing for us in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. We're looking forward to putting together the best possible plan so that he can be successful in all three events."
Thompson will enter with sophomore eligibility and will compete in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. The Eagles have been highly competitive in the Mid-American Conference in all jumping events over the last decade. Since 2013, Eastern Michigan has captured the MAC high jump and long jump crown four times, and triple jump six times across both teams.
"We are beyond thrilled to have Cayden join us," said Associate Head Coach Sterling Roberts. "He is a rare triple-threat in the jumps, excelling in the high, long, and triple! He joins a very strong group of jumpers, and will make an immediate impact in helping us in our quest for MAC titles and a Triple Crown. I know he has big goals, and we have big goals for him. Assistant Coach Evan Brusich and I are very excited to work with him."
