TOKYO, Japan (EMUEagles.com) –
Former Eastern Michigan University standout Donald Scott completed his Olympic run in the men's triple jump final tonight, Aug. 4 in Tokyo, representing the United States. The Apopka, Fla. native soared to 17.18m for seventh overall, the second-best mark among Team USA.

Scott had a solid first attempt of 17.15m, good enough to place seventh through three jumps, automatically advancing him to the finals. His fourth leap of the day proved to be his best, launching himself 17.18m to remain in seventh. For Scott, his 17.18m mark tied his best mark at the U.S. Olympic Trials, June 21. The former Eagle notched a wind-aided distance of 17.22m earlier in the year at the Chula Vista Field Festival, May 29.

Fellow countryman Will Claye took fourth in the competition with a best of 17.44m while Pichardo Pedro Pablo of Portugal took home the gold with an astounding 17.98 jump.

Up next for Scott, he will stay busy with professional track and field meets around the globe such as Diamond League events. The former eight-time Mid-American Conference Champion will continue to train in hopes of becoming an Olympian once again at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
