Volleyball Selected Sixth in MAC West

The Eagles will start the 2021 campaign at the College of Charleston Invitational, Aug. 27
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference West Division in a vote by the conference's 12 head coaches, the league office announced today, Aug. 24.
In-state rival Central Michigan was selected to win the MAC West with 63 points and was also picked as the regular-season champion with five first-place votes. Following the Chippewas was Ball State, which earned 60 points and three first-place votes. EMU's other in-state rival, Western Michigan, tallied 49 points and was selected third, while Toledo earned 36 points in the fourth position. The Broncos also earned three first-place votes, while the Rockets earned one. Rounding out the division was Northern Illinois and the Eagles at fifth and sixth, respectively.
Bowling Green, who received all 12 first-place votes, was pegged to win the MAC East with 72 points. Behind the Falcons was Kent State and Miami, who tallied 53 and 51 points, respectively. Filling out the rest of the East was Ohio, Akron, and Buffalo at fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. BGSU was also selected as the MAC Tournament favorite with 10 votes.
Eastern Michigan will start the 2021 season at the College of Charleston Invitational against the host Cougars Friday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. EMU will compete in four non-conference tournaments before the 18-match MAC slate.
