Forty-Two Rowers Earn Spot on CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll

The 42 is the most selected in program history

RICHMOND, Va. (EMUEagles.com) – A total of 42 Eastern Michigan University rowers earned spots on the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the 2021 spring semester, the league announced today, July 22.
 
The CAA recognized 2,731 student-athletes from the 16 different institutions. Student-athletes on the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll must have participated in a CAA-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the designated academic term, and been enrolled as a full-time student.
 
Senior members of the EMU squad to be named to the team were Lauren Ahern (Farmington Hills, Mich.-Walled Lake Western), Grace Burke (Coloma, Mich.-Benton Harbor), Sonia Buxton (Round Rock, Texas-Cedar Ridge), MacKenzie Geisler (Mount Horeb, Wis.-Mount Horeb), Brynne Harder (Fenwick, Mich.-Saranac), Leah Huyser (Jenison, Mich.-Jenison), Emily Ignagni (Plymouth, Mich.-Canton), Eve Melody (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Jerome), Maggie Nied (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland), and Laura Penny (Saline, Mich.-Saline), along with graduate students Jennifer Bucci (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Bishop Allen Academy), Haley Dutton (West Salem, Wis.-West Salem), Karson Mahaney (Troy, Ohio-Miami East), and Hannah Taylor (Brooklyn, Mich.-Columbia Central).
 
From the junior class, Priscilla Brom (Rockford, Mich.-Rockford), Anna Eschenburg (Bruce Township, Mich.-Romeo), MacKaela Geisler (Mount Horeb, Wis.-Mount Horeb), Brianna Gracey (Dayton, Ohio-Chaminade Julienne), Mary Hemgesberg (Freeland, Mich.-Freeland), and Caitlin Rodanhisler (Hopkins, Mich.-Hopkins) were named to the honor roll.
 
Rose Andrews (Rochester, Ill.-Rochester), Emma Boersen (West Olive, Mich.-Grand Haven), Chloe Hinojosa (Kewanee, Ill.-Kewanee), Alexis Kettler (Trenton, Mich.-Trenton), Kaialani Knox (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel), Melanie McKeehan (Canton, Mich.-Plymouth), and Ariel Sutton (Indianapolis, Ind.-Scecina Memorial) represent rowing's sophomore class on the list.
 
Newcomers Laura Borchers (Troy, Ohio-Troy), Olivia Bray (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Homeschool), Erin Corbley (Green Bay, Wis.-Green Bay Southwest), Maiyah Devenport (Crystal Lake, Ill.-Prairie Ridge), Reagan Fazekas (Hillsdale, Mich.-Hanover-Horton), Tiana Fox (Antioch, Ill.-Antioch Community), Emily Gandy (Canadian Lakes, Mich.-Chippewa Hills), Jessica LaRoy (Monroe, Mich.-Monroe), Libbey Lloyd (Cadillac, Mich.-Cadillac), Isabella Nothom (Springfield, Va.-West Springfield), Alexandria Parsons (Granville, Ohio-Columbus School for Girls), Olivia Robinson (Hudson, Ohio-Western Reserve Academy), Lindsay Rock (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield South), Abbey Simpson (Wyandotte, Mich.-Roosevelt), and Alexandra Walsh (Oswego, Ill.-Oswego East) round out the Eagles named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
