Brendan Hill will join the Eagles from Wayne High School
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University track & field program and Director/Head Coach Sue Parks added another highly-touted student-athlete to the 2021-22 roster today, July 12, with the signing of high jumper Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio-Wayne).
"We are excited that Brendan has decided to join the Eagle family," said Parks. "We are confident that he will continue to develop in our program and add depth to our jumps group."
EMU has seen many Eagles succeed across in the high jump in recent years. On the women's side, graduate student Quintella Johnson (Las Vegas, Nev.-Saint Mary's (Texas Southern)) has won three-straight Mid-American Conference high jump titles and earned Second Team All-American status at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2021. Across both teams, the Eagles have captured the MAC high jump crown four times since 2017.
"We are thrilled to have Brendan joining the EMU family," said Assistant Coach Evan Brusich. "We think he has immense potential as a jumper and what we're really excited to watch is how he develops as a young man and a leader."
Hill will join fellow Wayne High School product and graduate student Graysen Simmons (Huber Heights, Ohio-Wayne). A veteran pole vaulter for the Eagles, Simmons ranks eighth in program history with an indoor clearance of 3.86m and ninth with an outdoor height of 3.88m. Most recently, Simmons was awarded the MAC Medal of Excellence Award. To be honored with the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes had to participate on the varsity level in a Conference sponsored sport and shown evidence of academic success with a minimum 3.50 accumulative grade-point average, exhibited athletics excellence, leadership, and service.
