The Caldeon, Ontario, Canada native collected All-MAC honors for the first time

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University men's golf senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) collected Second Team All-Mid-American Conference honors, the league announced Friday, May 7.  It marks the 17th time an EMU student-athlete has collected second team accolades and the first since 2016 when Brett White garnered the honor.

In 2020-21, he led the squad an average of 74.33 and seven rounds of par-or-better. Named the MAC's Golfer of the Week on March 31, Collins finished tied for seventh at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate with an even-par 216 (69-74-73) for his first top-10 showing of the season. At the event, he tied a season-low he previously set at the GCU Invitational.

Collins also added a 217 (79-69-69) at the Git-R-Done Husker Invitational to place 13th, while placing 15th at the Hoosier Collegiate Invite with a 225 (77-76-72). At the MAC Championships, he tied for 17th-place with a 236 (78-80-78).

Collins has played in 99 career rounds with an average of 73.87, and is on pace for the fifth-lowest career average in program history should he elect to use his extra year of COVID-19 eligibility in 2021-22. A member of Team Canada's National Amateur Squad, Collins has 32 career rounds of par-or-better with three top-10 showings.

Eastern Michigan finished the year with the 19th lowest four-player team scoring average in program history at 298.9. Overall, Eastern Michigan finished in the top-five at a trio of tournaments, including most recently a fifth-place showing at the MAC Championships, April 30-May 1.
