Five Eagles Competed in Round Two of NCAA Regionals

Rondeau ended the meet with a 9.900 on floor

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team saw five individuals compete in round two of NCAA Regionals Friday, April 2. Sophomore Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) competed in all-around, while senior Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Savage) competed on bars, beam, and floor. Eastern had three specialists, with senior Cortney Bezold (Maineville, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick) on bars, and juniors Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill-Carl Sandburg) and Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens) on beam.
"What an incredible experience for these athletes," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "These five athletes laid everything out on the line today. I am so happy for Jada and Cortney for finishing their season so strong. What an amazing accomplishment for each one of them. So proud of our team!"
The Eagles saw great performances from their specialists, with Bezold starting with a 9.850 and tying for 10th on bars. On beam, Gregory earned a 9.800 to tie for 11th, while Satler scored a 9.275 and finished 21st.
Rondeau began her day on bars, hitting 9.875 and tying for fourth. The senior then earned 9.800 on beam to tie for 11th, before finishing her day on floor with a huge 9.900, earning her a tie at fourth place.
Crossen started her all-around day on vault where she scored 9.800, before rotating to bars and earning 9.775, tying at 15th. On beam, the sophomore had a great performance, eclipsing a 9.850 and tied for eighth. The Indiana native closed out her regional all-around appearance on floor, hitting a 9.750 and tying at 17. The all-arounder placed sixth with a total score of 39.175.
The Green and White have to wait for the results of the third round of regionals Saturday, April 3, at 7 p.m., before finding out their individual fate for NCAA Nationals.
