MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team will enjoy a Midwest road trip this weekend, starting in Muncie, Ind. at Ball State on Friday, April 16. EMU (9-11; 1-7 MAC) enters this weekend having dropped its last two matches against Bowling Green, 0-7, (April 9) and at Toledo, 1-6, (April 11), and look to get back into the win column. The Eagles recently saw their No. 1 singles pairing of redshirt junior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)) and redshirt freshman Isabelle Popma (Staphorst, Netherlands-Center for Sports and Education) earn doubles team of the week honors from the conference office, April 7. The duo is 6-4 at No. 1, and 8-4 overall.
Ball State (17-2; 8-0 MAC) is undefeated in conference play thus far, most recently defeating Northern Illinois 6-1, April 9, and Bowling Green 5-2, April 11. This will be the second and final meeting between the two squads after the Cardinals came to Ypsilanti, March 12, and bested the Eagles 1-6.
For the first time, Eastern will compete against NAIA opponent Grace College (13-5; 6-2 Crossroads) in Winona Lake, Ind. The Lancers enter the contest after a loss to Missouri Valley College, April 9, in the IWU (Indiana Wesleyan) Invitational in Crossroads League action.
Additionally, Northern Illinois (12-11; 4-4 MAC) will compete against Toledo, April 16, ahead of its matchup with Eastern Michigan, April 18. The Huskies most recently took down Miami, 4-3, April 11.
