Rowing Tops Duquesne in Home Opener

The Eagles posted first-place finishes in all three races

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team recorded three race victories in its home opener against Duquesne University this afternoon, April 10, on Ford Lake. 

"It was great to get a race at home," Head Coach Kemp Savage said. "There were good performances in all boats and we are looking forward to making improvements for tomorrow." 

The 1V8+ boat recorded the fastest time of the day on the 2000-meter course at 7:20.31 to claim the first-place finish. The Dukes 1V8+ squad posted a 7:47.96, a 27.65-second difference to the Eagles. 

Additionally, Eastern's 2V8+ team won its race with a time of 7:43.03, 23.89 ahead of Duquesne's 2V8+ boat, while EMU's 3V8+ squad crossed the finish line in 9:04.40. 
 
In the V4+ race, EMU's A team posted the win with a time of 8:33.88, while the Dukes claimed second with an 8:47.87, a 13.99-second difference to the Green and White. Finally, the V4+B boat finished with an 8:51.9 time. 

Eastern Michigan will resume racing Sunday, April 11, against University of Dayton. The races are set to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Ford Lake.
