Eagles Set for Tri-Meet Weekend

Eastern will take on competition in Texas and North Carolina

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field program continues its 2021 outdoor schedule Thursday-Saturday, March 25-27, as the Eagles have three meets going on simultaneously. Members from both teams will be spread out across the country, exhibiting their skills in the Lone Star and Tar Heel States.
At the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas at Austin, the Green and White will compete in sprints, hurdles, and jumps with each day of competition begins at 10 a.m. CT. Additionally, the women's team will compete in the 4x100 relay. Last week, the quartet of sophomore Alyson Davis (Summerfield, N.C.-Weaver Academy for Performing and Visual Arts), redshirt senior Micah Johnston (Toledo, Ohio-Toledo Christian), and graduate students Brittni Mason (Richmond Heights, Ohio-West Geagua) and Kolby Ganther (Park City, Kan.-Northeast Magnet (Garden City C.C.)) earned a second-place finish in the 4x100, crossing the finish line in 45.67 at the USF Bulls Invite, March 20. That mark currently ranks fifteenth in Division I and second in the Mid-American Conference.

Eastern will also attend the Bobcat Invitational at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. In addition to the typical track and field events, this meet also includes a decathlon and heptathlon. The invitational starts at 9 a.m. CT on Thursday, while Friday and Saturday action kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Members of the women's team participated at the invitational back in 2019, boasting seven top-10 placements, March 28-30, 2019.
Lastly, North Carolina State is set to host the Raleigh Relays, March 25-27. In this meet, the Eagles will have the opportunity to display their skills in long-distance and throwing events for the first time during the outdoor season. Action will begin each day at 10 a.m. on the Paul H. Derr Track. The last time Eastern competed at the relays, the four former Eagles on the men's side won events in Terrell Posada (100m Dash), Tyler Underwood (400m Dash), Derek Ziegenfuss (Javelin), Nick Herbert (Triple Jump), March 29-30, 2019.
