YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Head Coach Chris Creighton's Eagles were back inside "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium for their third practice of the 2021 spring session today, March 22.
The team is in the midst of 15 practices over a five-week period that each institution at the NCAA Division I level is granted. Practices are being conducted approximately three days per week, with off-field activities such as weight lighting occurring on alternate days.
The team, adhering closely to a variety of safety rules and standards that were enacted during the 2020 regular season, ran through drills and team exercises on the gray turf. Today was the third day of a three-day acclimation period which sees the team gradually add more padded equipment before working out in full pads.
Creighton, who is now in his eighth year at the helm, guided the team through the workout as they prepare for the upcoming 2021 season.
On the field, coaches focused largely on individual skill development. This is a common trend in "spring ball," as it is the final weeks of full-team, on-field activity before August's fall camp.
The term "Be Different," was vocalized on numerous occasions. The newest mantra for the squad encourages players to go above-and-beyond, in order to better themselves and the team. Instead of just going through the motions, players will be expected to "Be Different."
EMU will be back in action Wednesday, March 24, for its fourth on-field workout.

** Due to health and safety concerns, training and practice activities are limited to essential personnel only. EMU continues to follow the standards established by the University's Public Health Work Group, the state of Michigan, the NCAA, and the Mid-American Conference.
