Ganesan records her sixth singles-win of the season

Boxscore

OXFORD, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team fell to Miami University Sunday, March 21, 1-6, in Oxford, Ohio. The Eagles now fall to 0-4 in conference play, 6-8 overall.

"Today was another hard match and probably the best team we have played this season." said Head Coach Jayson Wiseman "We did a lot of good things to build on today. Hopefully we can put it all together and get a win or two next weekend."

Eastern was unable to secure the doubles point, as redshirt junior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Alagappa Matriculation School (Eastern Florida State)) and redshirt freshman Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire-sur-I'Adour, France-Dominique Saint Pau) fought hard but fell 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. The duo of redshirt juniors Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colego Cebes (Wright State)) and Grace Whitney (Imlay City, Mich.-Imlay City (Wright State)) were unable to secure the win at the second doubles flight, as the match was unfinished.

In singles, it was Ganesan earning EMU's sole point of the day. The redshirt junior battled through three sets to claim the victory, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8, at the No. 3 spot. The Green and White ultimately lost to the RedHawks, 1-6.

The Eagles will look to rebound as the University of Toledo comes to the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti Friday, March 26. Eastern will follow up with a match Sunday, March 28 at the University at Buffalo. The contests are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
