Track & Field Announces Full 2021-22 Schedule

The Eagles will travel to at least six states over the course of the indoor and outdoor seasons

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University track & field program and Director/Head Coach Sue Parks are happy to announce the full 2021-22 season today, Dec. 2.

"We're excited to announce our track and field schedule," said Parks. "We feel that all of our student-athletes will have the chance to compete at meets that will be beneficial to their development. The schedule is a good mix of local and elite level meets."

EMU kicks off the indoor season with a trip west for its first of three meets at Grand Valley State University, starting with the GVSU Holiday Open, Dec. 3. The Eagles will then work on their craft for over a month before visiting the University of Michigan for the Wolverine Invitational, Jan. 8. Following the meet in Ann Arbor, Mich., Eastern will leave the Mitten State to partake in the Akron Quad Meet, Jan. 14. The Green and White wrap up the month of January with another outing at UM, the Michigan Invitational, Jan. 22.

The Eagles split up at beginning of February with the distance runners traveling to the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., hosted by the University of Notre Dame, Feb. 4-5. Meanwhile, the rest of the team will return to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Snowdown Showdown, Feb. 4. Eastern will then participate in its third and final meet with the Lakers, GVSU Big Meet, Feb. 11. The Green and White are then set to attend Michigan's Silverston Invitational, Feb. 18.

Finally, the Eagles will conclude their indoor season with the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, Feb. 25-26, hosted by Kent State University. From there, EMU hopes to send competitors to the NCAA Indoor Championships, which takes place in Birmingham, Ala., hosted by the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

EMU starts the outdoor season on the road at the Raleigh Relays, March 24-26, and the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, March 26. The Eagles will have seven meets in the month of April, starting with the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., April 1-2. Eastern Michigan then heads south for the Tennessee Relays, April 7-9, while others stay in the Mitten for Oakland University's Golden Grizzlies Invite, April 8-9. From there, the Green and White fly to the Golden State for the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University, April 13-15.

At the same time, a few members of the program will be at the Don Kleinow Invitational, April 15, in Adrian, Mich. A week later, EMU travels to Columbus, Ohio for the famous Jesse Owens Invitational, April 22-23. Eastern wraps up the busy month of April with two meets; the 55th Hillsdale "GINA" Relays, April 28-30, and the Jack Shaw Invitational, April 29-30. 

The Len Paddock Open, hosted by the University of Michigan, May 6, will serve as the Eagles' final tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships, May 12-14. Western Michigan is set to welcome members of the MAC for the league meet, May 12-14. From there, Eastern Michigan hopes to qualify student-athletes for the NCAA East Regional Championships, hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., May 25-28.

The track & field season will culminate with the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, June 8-11.
