 – The Eastern Michigan University cross country program was represented by junior Baldvin Magnusson (Akureyri, Iceland-Hull University) at the NCAA Cross Country Championships today, Nov. 20, on the Apalachee Regional Park Course.

"This was a rough day for Vinny but we're very proud of his season," said Director/Head Coach Sue Parks. "This is an incredibly tough race and I know that he will learn from this experience and come back stronger. It was exciting to see him represent Eastern at the highest level."

"I'm proud of Vinny, he ran a tough race today," said Head Coach Mark Rinker. "It wasn't the day we hoped for but he fought for 10,000m and we take pride in bringing that effort every day."

The EMU harrier got off to a solid start, sprinting out of his box to 104th place through the first 1170m, just 4.3 seconds from the top runner. Magnusson continued to stay within 30 seconds of first place through the first 3K, but ultimately could not keep pace. After 8K, the junior rounded out the top-200 with a time of 24:49.4.

The Icelandic product crossed the finish line with a 10K time of 31:40.0 for 223rd.

Conner Mantz of Brigham Young University took home the individual title for the second year in-a-row, clocking in at 28:33.1. Meanwhile, North Arizona earned the team title with 92 points (6-9-11-32-34), its fifth national championship in six years.
