EMU Drops Home Affair against Buffalo, 3-1

Chase records 16 kills and .625 hitting percentage
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team fell to the University at Buffalo, 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 23-25, 16-25), today, Oct. 29, inside the Convocation Center.
The loss dropped Eastern Michigan's record to 8-15 overall and 3-9 in Mid-American Conference action.
The Eagles were led by a double-double from sophomore Samantha Basham (Granville, Ohio-Newark), who registered 19 kills and 10 digs on the day. Redshirt sophomore Raeven Chase (Toronto, Ont.-Michael Power St. Joseph Catholic) also added 16 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, sophomore Kamryn Stilwell (Parma, Ohio-Padua Franciscan) chipped in for EMU with 23 digs to go with a career-high six blocks from freshman Makayla Smith (Portage, Mich.-Portage Northern).

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles fell in a back-and-forth first set, losing 27-25 in a game that featured six lead changes and was tied 11 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match.
SET 2 | Eastern Michigan fought back from a first-set loss to take set two 25-23, evening the match at one set apiece.
SET 3 | The Eagles dropped a back-and-forth battle in the third set, losing 25-23 in a set that featured five lead changes and was tied 12 times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points along the way.
SET 4 | Eastern Michigan then dropped the fourth set 25-16 to finish off the match. The Eagles trailed by as many as nine points as Buffalo grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5.
