WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team made it through only one round of golf today, Oct. 11, at the Purdue Fall Invite after play was suspended in the second round due to inclement weather.
The teams were called off the course at 5:02 p.m. ET, after threatening weather approached Kampen Course, ending Monday's play with about 10-11 holes remaining in the second round.
The teams will attempt to finish play Tuesday morning (shotgun start time TBA) with the conclusion of the second round and the third and final round following that.
Senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) leads the Eagles charge after shooting a two-under 72 and is currently tied for fifth. When play was suspended this afternoon due to inclement weather, Collins had made eight consecutive pars to open the round.
Classmate Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) is tied for 10th and was two-under on the round before the delay. The senior fired a 74 in the opening 18 holes, but had already moved up 10-spots on the leaderboard.
