Luisa Pelayo brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of winning to EMU
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Head Tennis Coach Jayson Wiseman announced the signing of Luisa Pelayo (Porto, Portugal-Colegio CEBES (Wright State)) to the EMU tennis team Friday, June 10.
A transfer from Wright State University, Pelayo was a key piece of the Raider lineup during her time with that program. She recorded a 29-15 singles record with a 14-2 mark mainly at No. 3 singles during the 2017-18 campaign. Additionally, she tallied an 8-1 mark against Horizon League foes, and added 19 wins in doubles action.
"We are very excited to add a player of Luisa's strength and experience to our roster," said Wiseman. "Over the last three years at Wright State she has proven to be one of the strongest doubles and singles players in the Horizon League. We are confident that Luisa will be able to step into both our singles and doubles line-ups and be a major contributor as we look to compete for a MAC Championship."
Bert joins a group of Eagles that was in the midst of a fantastic regular season in the spring of 2020, before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Wiseman's group was off to a 10-7 start, and should be able to maintain that momentum heading into next season.
