Three Tennis Eagles Named CSC Academic All-District

Trio earned recognition for academic and athletic success during the 2024-25 seasons

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District honors for tennis, May 19, with three members of the Eastern Michigan University program garnering recognition, including Sabina Brichackova, Marta Komar, and Prerna Vichare. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry at a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 while having competed in at least 70 percent of the team's competitions during the dual season.
 
Brichackova (Cheb, Czechia/Gymnázium Jana Blahoslava) capped her collegiate career by posting an 11-11 mark in singles play and an 18-9 record in doubles action that included a runner-up finish at the 2024 MAC Individual Championships as she and partner Vichare took second in doubles. Playing primarily at No. 1 doubles, Brichackova was 11-3 on the year in that position, including a 6-1 record against MAC foes, bringing her career total to 62 victories, the 16th-most in program history. With her 11 wins in singles play, she brought her career total to 57 and tied Victoria Domina (2003-05) for 20th on the all-time wins list in program history. All told, Brichackova, who had a hand in winning the clinching doubles point in 5-of-14 duals, closed her time at Eastern with 119 career wins, the 19th-highest total in program history.
 
Vichare (Mumbai, India/Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics), an All-MAC Second Team selection for the second time in her career after being selected for the honor as a freshman in 2022, put together another solid season for the Eagles on the courts. In her senior season, Vichare tallied a 12-5 record in singles play, including an 11-4 mark in duals and 6-2 in MAC matches, as she played at Nos. 1-4 during the season with most of her matches coming at No. 3, where she was 6-3. She also was one of the top doubles players on the team as she accumulated a 17-7 record, including 13-4 in duals and 6-1 in the MAC, and helped clinch a team-high four doubles points. Playing primarily at No. 1 doubles, Vichare posted an 11-3 record to bring her career total to 60 wins, the 19th-most in program history. Along with 40 career singles wins, Vichare capped her collegiate career with 100 combined wins.
 
Komar (Inowroclaw, Poland/Sopocka (Sopot) Tennis Academy/Wayne State) tallied 22 total wins on the season as she posted 11 wins each in singles and doubles play with eight of her wins helping clinch points for the Eagles. In singles, Komar played matches at Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 6 for the Eagles and went 5-5 in MAC play. She won three times at the No. 6 position with all three victories clinching the team's dual win. In doubles, she played at all three positions and combined with three different teammates to clinch five of the team's 14 doubles points. A three-year member of Wayne State University before playing her final season with the Eagles, Komar completed her collegiate career with 140 combined wins, including 67 in singles and 73 in doubles.
