Four Eagles Earn WGCA All-American Scholar Honors

All four are honored for third consecutive year
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – Four members of the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), the organization announced today, June 29. The Green and White were one of eight Mid-American Conference schools to have multiple student-athletes recognized.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. EMU's four selections come from a list of 1,401 student-athletes from all levels of NCAA competition.
Eastern Michigan's honorees include junior Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International), and seniors Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne), Katelin Lawson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) and Julia Stevenson ((LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community (University of Tampa)). Connelly is a four-time honoree, while Lawson, Sripatrprasite, and Stevenson earned this prestigious award for the third-time.
Sripatrprasite recorded an average of 75.90 in seven tournaments for the Eagles. The Bangkok, Thailand product notched her first collegiate medalist honor at the Low Country Invitational with a two-over 144 (72-72). Her 144 performance ranks as the third-lowest 36-hole tally in EMU history. The junior closed with a 73 to finish in a tie for ninth-pace with a 223 (74-76-73) at the Rio Verde Invitational. Sripatrprasite placed ninth at the season opener, Cardinal Classic, where she posted a team-best low-round score of 70 in the third round.
In her final season at EMU, Connelly played in seven tournaments and posted an average of 76.90. She recorded a career-best third-place finish with a 147 (76-71) at the Low Country Invitational as EMU took the top-three spots in a tournament for the first-time in its history. The Waterville, Ohio native tallied a score of 72 during the third round and helped lead the Eagles to an 11th-place finish in the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational.
During the 2019-20 season, Lawson participated in seven tournaments with an average score of 79.25. The LaSalle, Ontario native posted a low-round score of 73 in the first round of EMU's own Shirley Spork Invitational, where she finished tied for 12th. The senior also tied for 13th at the Low Country Invitational with as 152 (78-74) and helped lead the Eagles to a first-place finish.
Posting a team-best average 75.75 during the 2019-20 campaign, Stevenson played in 20 rounds for the Green and White. She notched a top-five showing at the Shirley Spork Invitation where she finished third with a 217 (72-72-73). The Milford, Mich. product tallied a 145 (74-71) to take runner-up honors as EMU swept the top three individual spots at the Low Country Invitational. The senior opened the season with a 224 (73-76-75) in the Cardinal Classic, where she tied for seventh.
