Tennis Heads to Hoosier State for Three Weekend Matches

The team looks to build upon its 1-2 record
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team is back on the road as it continues its spring season with a triple-dipper of matches in the Hoosier State. The weekend kicks off with matches against the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Southern Indiana University on Friday, Feb. 7, before the Eagles take on Indiana University Sunday, Feb. 9.
EMU will match up with the Trojans (UMSL) at 4 p.m. Friday, before facing SIU in the nightcap. The later match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. UMSL is yet to play a spring match, while Southern Illinois brings an 0-1 record to the match. They fell, 6-1, at the University of Charleston, Oct. 20. Both matches will be played in Evansville, Ind.
Indiana is 3-2 on the year, with wins over EMU's fellow Mid-American Conference-competitor, Ball State, Memphis, and Notre Dame, respectively. The two squads are set to battle beginning at 4 p.m. on Feb. 9.
The Eagles are led by senior Marie Mayerova (Krmelin, Czech Republic) and Junior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Alagappa Matriculation School), who each have four wins on the season. The pair of Mayerova and sophomore Julia Piatek (Melgiew, Poland-Liceum Lublin) highlights the doubles lineup, as they have earned three wins on the young season.
