The Green and White hopes to improve on its 6-6 season
LORETTO, Pa. / YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – After a slight tweak to the Eastern Michigan University tennis team's schedule, the Eagles will now play a pair of matches against Saint Francis University, and Niagra University, today, Feb. 29.
The Eagles will begin the day in Loretto, Pa. with a 10 a.m. matchup with Saint Francis. The Red Flash come into the match at just 1-10 on the season, which should provide EMU (6-6) to get back above the .500 plateau for the season.
From Loretto, the Eagles will fly to Youngstown for their match against Niagra. The Purple Eagles are 3-5 on the season, but are yet to notch a victory over a Mid-American Conference team this season.
EMU is led by senior Marie Mayerova (Kremlin, Czech Republic) and junior Vasavi Ganesan (Tamil Nadu, India-Algappa Marticulation School)¸who each pace the team with 10 singles wins on the young campaign. Ganesan and freshman Isabelle Popma (Staphorst, Netherlands-Center for Sports and Education) have teamed-up to become one of the best doubles pairings in the conference as well. The duo holds a team-best 7-4 record and has recorded five consecutive victories.
