Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success in competition
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMUCU's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week.
Skyler Lester
Eastern Michigan junior Skyler Lester captured the men's track and field program's lone event title at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame, Saturday, Feb. 22. The Marietta, Ga. native claimed first prize in the high jump with a mark of exactly 2.00 meters. Lester, who ranks third in the Mid-American Conference in the high jump, recorded his best mark of the season during his first trip to Notre Dame at the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 7, where he finished in a tie for third place with a height of 2.06 meters.
Alysse Wade
Eastern Michigan sophomore Alysse Wade competed in the 60-meter hurdles at the Silverston Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan, Friday, Feb. 21. The Mansfield, Ohio native finished fourth in the preliminary round with a MAC Auto Qualifying mark of 8.52 seconds, which is the fastest time by an Eagle this season and third-best in the conference. Wade went on to place fourth in the title race with a mark of 8.57 seconds.
