Women's Basketball Reveals 2019-20 Schedule

14 home games, including a Thanksgiving week clash with Michigan, on tap
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Head Women's Basketball Coach Fred Castro released the team's upcoming 2019-20 schedule today, Sept. 4. The Eagles will play an 11-game non-conference slate before beginning Mid-American Conference play.
Eastern opens up the 2019-20 campaign, and its fourth season under Castro's direction, against in-state foe and former EMU bench boss Suzy Merchant and Michigan State in East Lansing, Nov. 5.
Fans will have their first opportunity to catch the Green and White in action at the Convocation Center Friday, Nov. 8, when EMU hosts Olivet College.
After a trip to the Buckeye State for a clash with Youngstown State, Nov. 16, the Eagles return home for a three-game homestand. Eastern hosts Southeast Missouri State, Nov. 19, followed by Southern Illinois, Nov. 23. Then, EMU welcomes Michigan to the Convo, Nov. 27. It will be the first meeting between the two since Eastern knocked off the Maize and Blue, 64-63, in Ypsilanti, Dec. 23, 2015.
The Eagles hit the road for back-to-back games to open the month of December. First, traveling to New York to take on Binghamton, Dec. 1, before treking west to take on Wichita State, Dec. 7.
Eastern's final home game of the non-conference portion of the schedule takes place Dec. 10, when the Eagles close out a home-and-home with Purdue Fort Wayne.
The calendar year comes to a close with a trip to the Windy City for a tilt with Illinois-Chicago, Dec. 18, followed by a visit to the Motor City to battle Detroit Mercy, Dec. 21.
Eastern Michigan will begin its 18-game conference slate Jan. 4 against Bowling Green, which is also a doubleheader with men's basketball.
The Green and White will play each MAC West Division opponent twice, while taking on each East Division at least once. Eastern will play Akron and Bowling Green from the East Division twice, marking the second consecutive season that the Eagles will face the Zips twice in the same season.
The first round of the MAC Tournament will take place on March 9 at campus sites, then move to Cleveland, Ohio at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse for the remaining games March 11-14.
